Overview

The Certified APM Functional Consultant-Integrity is a part of the overall GE Digital Education Services Certification Framework. The Functional Consultant-Integrity certification ensures the competency of candidates at a subject matter expert level. Functional Consultants can pursue certification in various APM pillars, dependent on their industry experience and interests, as well us pursue Expert level credentials if desired.

Role Description

The Certified APM Functional Consultant-Integrity is intended for an individual that has substantial industry experience and can be considered Integrity Engineering subject matter expert. Responsibilities include supporting customer projects, delivering Mechanical Integrity services, training, and advising customers on work process and system configuration options. Techno-functional aptitude is required in asset management or integrity methodologies such as RCM/FMEA/TM/RBI/SIS.

The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in process/mechanical engineering or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or equivalent. 10+ years field experience working with Integrity Methodologies, APM skills such as FMEA, RCM, RBI, SIS in high capital-intensive industry. The candidate must have the ability to analyze the data collected, facilitate failure analysis (RCM, FMEA), make recommendations based on the findings and integrate these recommendations into the customers maintenance work management system.

The Certified APM Functional Consultant-Integrity role includes the common industry roles for Customer Reliability Manager, Subject Matter Expert, Integrity Engineer, Integrity Consultant.

The candidate should be able to:

  • Utilize deep functional domain experience with Inspections, Risk Based Inspections (RBI), Mechanical Integrity, or Calibration and Safety
  • Leverage industry experience, equipment knowledge, software know-how, and customer satisfaction skills to deliver world class predictive analytics and monitoring solutions to assigned customer accounts
  • Support project teams in analysis and review of APM Mechanical Integrity deliverables to ensure high quality and customer confidence
  • Support customer projects, delivering mechanical integrity consulting services, advise customers on work process and system configuration options
  • Technical and functional aptitude is required in the field of asset management and/or in reliability methodologies such as RCA/RCM/FMEA/RBI/SIS
  • Responsible for the successful implementation of APM work processes and products in the customer sites
  • Lead RCM/FMEA facilitation and working with customers to successfully implement these recommendations in their work management system
  • Provide asset reliability and mechanical integrity consulting in the areas of RCM/FMEA, RBI, reliability analysis and improvement identification
  • Satisfy customer maintenance planning requirements by applying practical knowledge of how to implement Maintenance Plans, Maintenance Items, and Task Lists
  • Translate functional/technical MI concepts into processes and configuration
  • Work to develop relationships with client team members and leverage these relationships to help the client achieve targeted success
  • Assist client project teams by helping define and maintain direction, tactfully preventing clients from taking a “wrong turn”
  • Ensure client confidence and project success through applying capabilities of APM Integrity; understand the functions of the MI modules and key interfaces; understand the various ways to implement APM products; learning and understanding the client business requirements
  • Accountable to support the project teams’ through building relationships with the client; managing client expectations; and meeting and/or exceeding client goals
  • Invest functional expertise and technical knowledge to improve company standards and procedures

Exam Topics & Objectives

Foundation

Weighting 10%
  • Use Dashboards to display and interpret RBI information
  • View, create, and manage records by utilizing Record Manager and the Record Hierarchy, manage ID templates and relationship definitions
  • View formatted views of data by running stored reports
  • Build and interpret different policies, including a Rotating Equipment Monitoring Policy

Risk Based Inspection

Weighting 45%
  • Customize a personal home page, view existing process and design data, inspection history, and thickness monitoring data, and create new RBI Components
  • Modify an RBI system and identify degradation mechanisms
  • Interpret an RBI Criticality Matrix, create an RBI Analysis, and complete consequence, degradation evaluations and What If simulations
  • Create new and modify existing RBI Recommendations based on analysis findings, and approve RBI recommendations
  • Interpret RBI Analysis results and update analysis information for further interpretation and future analysis

Inspection Management

Weighting 25%
  • View mechanical integrity data and review overdue inspection tasks, inspections history, and inspection reports
  • Initiate new inspection, and document findings for non-inspected items, observations, degradation data, and associated degradation and associated recommendations
  • Review inspection reports and document degradation that is repaired and preventable failure involving a replacement data
  • Creating new and modify existing inspection tasks, manually add general findings, and preparing inspection for approval via State Management

Thickness Monitoring

Weighting 20%
  • Review and add thickness monitoring data to mechanical integrity RBI analysis, review thickness monitoring tasks
  • Review and interpret corrosion analysis settings, corrosion analysis plots, and corrosion analysis data for thickness monitoring, manually enter UT measurements
  • Setup Thickness monitoring assets validate thickness monitoring tasks, review corrosion analysis results, and creating new TML groups
