Course Description

4400 Hazards Analysis

Overview

You will learn how to use the Hazards Analysis module to examine equipment processes and identify their existing or potential hazards or risks. After identifying hazardous scenarios, you will define their characteristics and risks, the likelihood that the risks will occur, and ways to prevent the risks from occurring. You will then be able to recommend actions that may prevent the occurrence of the risks or mitigate them in some way. When you perform a Hazards and Operability (HAZOP) Analysis, you will document known hazardous scenarios that are associated with a process, and determine the best way to mitigate their associated risks. In a What If Analysis, you will document potentially hazardous scenarios that describe events, deviations, or risks that could, but have not yet occurred with a managed asset or with assets that will be implemented in the future. Once again, you will assess the likelihood of these potential risks and determine the best way to mitigate them.
